Are Disappointed National football league Fans More prone to be Abusive?

An extensive story from Burns-McCune last June states that there are no evidence to aid the myth that domestic violence spikes following the Super Bowl, but there's evidence in the National Bureau of Economic Research that National football league football fans whose teams suffer an unpredicted loss might take their disappointment on their domestic partners. The study demonstrated that domestic violence calls to police spiked by typically 10 % in places that a Nfl team experienced an upset loss.  Among the study's co-authors, Prof. Gordon Dahl, stated “What our paper states is the fact that when there's an unpredicted negative shock, a guy is more prone to hit a spouse.”

The findings paralleled findings in England following the 2006 World Cup, where  domestic violence calls rose nearly 30 % when England performed its matches within the 2006 World Cup.
